"The Novae Terrae, volume 3: Clans War", by Bloodwitch Luz Oscuria

This is the third excerpt from my novel, "The Novae Terrae, volume 3 : Clans War", in its version translated by Andreea Mirică.

The year 2026 does not start favourably for the clan formed around Paskal Wlidùcious. On this night as cold as death, he gets a bad taste of what is to come. The Eternals warned him the previous evening of the imminent arrival of the Vampires. Paskal is not one of the religious beings in this world, but on this night, under the starry sky that opens up before his eyes, he cannot help but wish that things will turn out for the best.

Of course, the moon does not respond to him. She only expresses herself through the rays of light that the sun at the other end of the galaxy allows her to reflect, leaving Paskal in the grip of doubt as to the outcome of the looming battle. After leaving out a disappointed sigh, the former Hunter returns to his trailer, but not without turning one last time to the one that accommodates Sarah, her adoptive father and her friend Kaïssi.

Inside this trailer, Sarah struggles to fall asleep, as she often does, while Kaïssi and Stephan both sleep soundly. She keeps repeating to herself the words that Paskal and the Eternals told her a few hours earlier. They know that the day of the surge is very near. Maybe it will even start at sunrise. She does not feel ready at all, despite the past few weeks. Kaïssi has gone out of her way to teach her how to defend herself, but Sarah is clearly not made for physical combat.

She barely manages to control the strange powers she possesses, which allowed her to retrieve the Novae Terrae from Eleonore and Aleksis at the citadel of Poenari a few years earlier. That day, she had been unable to prevent her mother, Witch Mylena Zetùnova, from locking herself inside the sphere in order to lure her father, Tomasz Wlidùcious, into it to save him. Since then, she has never found any way of getting them out, and no one has been able to give her any clues as to how to do so.
